Currently Not Collectible

If there is no way for you to pay the IRS what you owe, it is possible to stop all collection action.

Request IRS Currently Not Collectible Status

Traditionally, we help people resolve their tax debt with solutions like an Offer in Compromise or an Installment Agreement. But for some, there is simply no way the IRS will settle for less because our client has too much in assets. Yet those assets may not be liquid, or cannot be used as collateral for a loan to pay off the IRS, like encumbered real estate. Yet the client may not have enough income to set up a payment plan. Therefore, a Currently Not-Collectable Status (CNC) may be the only solution.

However, at Lothamer Tax Resolution, we’ve seen it all, and we’re here to help. We’re ready to take action today to get you the relief that can help you get back on your feet. If you receive Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status, the IRS will stop all collection efforts against you for a set period of time. This break could be the breath of air you need to sell property, increase your income, or re-organize your business or personal finances and start on the road to permanent financial recovery.

If you feel trapped by a tax problem, we’ll do the heavy lifting. All you have to do is take the first step.

How We Can Help You in the Long Term

If paying ANY money towards your taxes is too much of a financial burden to bear, we can negotiate with the IRS to stop collections until you are in a more stable position. CNC status is a temporary measure, and generally only lasts for one to two years. However, it can be a valuable transition step to prepare for a more permanent solution, such as filing an Offer in Compromise, or reaching the end of the statute of limitations for the IRS to collect.

We’re here to support you not only by negotiating your collectability status with the IRS, but also by determining the best strategy for long-term tax resolution. We don’t stop once we’ve achieved CNC status. Our goal is to find a permanent solution to your tax problem.

Duane - Standish, MI

I contacted Lothamer Tax Resolution in August 2020 with regards to an outstanding tax liability issue related to 2013 income tax return. Andrew Campbell handled my case and I found him to be very thorough. Lothamer kept me informed monthly with regards to the status of my case. After a period of 6 months, I was notified that the IRS had agreed to eradicate the tax liability , and I was quite relieved to have this significant tax burden finally lifted. Undoubtedly, I am extremely pleased with the representation that I received from Lothamer Tax Resolution with regards to this matter.
